You are attending a wedding reception and as you enter the hall you spot the table where the gifts are to be placed along with the big box for the cards.
As you are placing the card in the box the next few moments seem to unfold in slow motion. You look up and notice the bridesmaid dresses have changed from black to green. Then you see the bride running towards you yelling "Noooooooooooo......"
That's when you realize you are in the wrong reception hall.

Awkward Moment #3
It's your first appointment with your brand new GP. You're getting a full physical and he's running through a check list of questions to begin a new file for you. Standard questions about medical history, current lifestyle, occupation, marital status etc.
Then he asks for more detail on lifestyle: How much do you drink, do you take recreational drugs etc etc. Then come the questions around sexual activity. Any issues sexually? No. Quality and frequency?
You answer with awesome and then provide detail on how often.
He looks a bit puzzled and amused.
You then realize he just wanted a general answer: quality and frequency is good.
Oh. I've said too much.

Awkward Moment #2
You receive an email from your brother-in-law updating you on how their Thanksgiving was....the family is all sick. It's the 3rd year in a row that they have all gotten sick after the holiday so you respond to his message with:
"That sucks...seems like you guys always get dick this time of year"
Yup 'S' and 'D' are right next to each other on that little iPhone keyboard. And you pressed reply to all.
All = brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law.

Playing "Freak me baby" by Silk at your wedding to be funny, then looking over to see that your Mom is dancing with your new Father-in-law and your Dad is dancing with your new Mother-in-law.

Awkward Moments
I definitely haven't been the best at keeping an up-to-date blog but I'm going to try to go with something simple.
Awkward Moments by Nicole
We all have them...some more than others. I will do my best to ensure these "moments" are based on personal experience or have happened to someone I know.
We'll see how it goes.

Tumbling into the future
The era of social media is overwhelming.
I consider myself a pretty smart cookie and entered into the world of internet fun early on. I even had a book on HTML for dummies back in the 90's and had some success with a personal website. I enjoyed ICQ, mIRC which at the time was VERY advanced.
Now I feel like things have advanced so quickly I can't keep up.
Blogs, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, and Tumblr.
So I'm trying it all out. I did MySpace for a while and eventually abandoned it. I have a Facebook account, don't like Flickr for photos so stick with Picasa for now and this lovely blog. Tumblr is my newest addition.
Instant everything. It's pretty amazing and great for someone like me who has always had a shortened attention span...always thinking of at least 10 things at once.
But will this shorten the attention span of everyone? Do our youth risk losing any ability to take their time with a something, enjoy a private thought?
Something to think about for sure. Right now I'm going to see if I can actually get this stuff to work.

Our "Sushi 2 Go" Korean? Who knew?
I grew up in Etobicoke, a former suburb of Toronto but now part of Toronto after the amalgamation. I had a favourite Sushi place not far from my place and it was AMAZING. The sushi was incredible and the little old Japanese lady that was always there was super cute.
Once Mark moved to Toronto we would frequent this place and got to know the old lady who even gave us a wedding gift! When we returned from our honeymoon we were DEVASTATED to discover that the restaurant had closed. It was replaced with a franchise sushi restaurant called "Sushi 2 Go". We gave it a chance but it just wasn't the same.
So we longed for a great sushi place. One day we decided to try out the other Sushi 2 Go that was closer to our apartment. Turns out it was amazing! Huzzah!!! Incredible cuts of fish, amazing spicy tuna rolls AND the people we super nice. They even have a pile of trashy magazines to read while you're waiting for your take out order and provide you with yummy green tea while you wait.
When we moved closer into the city we said goodbye to our sushi joint and tried to find another great local place. Sadly our area is not big on sushi. We managed to find a place somewhat close by that also delivers but that's for another entry.
Since our renovations started we have moved into my parents' basement. They are so gracious to be housing us and feeding us! Last night after a long hard week Mark and I decided to head to Sushi 2 Go since we're in the neighbourhood again!
Off we went in the snow and grabbed a table before it got crazy busy. After 2 days of sushi this week I figured I should take it easy with the raw fish and decided to peruse the menu. There is was....Spicy Bulgogi.
Spicy Bulgogi? At a Japanese restaurant? Hmmmm were these owners Korean? Just as I finished my thought I heard the sushi chefs talking....holy cow they were speaking Korean? How had we not noticed this before?
When our waitress came by I asked her "Are you Korean?". She said " No I'm Japanese but they are Korean" (pointing to the chefs". Mark and I laughed....all this time we had no idea and we could have been practicing our Korean.
So I decided to try the Spicy Bulgogi and man am I glad I did. It was INCREDIBLE!!!!
If you're looking for some very tasty and well made sushi, maki, nigiri and bulgogi I highly recommend Sushi 2 Go in Etobicoke: 5280 Dundas St.West
